=========== How to See After Dark/Star Trek Art with ResEdit ===========
THE PROBLEM:
So, where are all the neat Star Trek pictures hidden in Berkeley Systems's Star Trek screen saver? If you open the Star Trek modules or the Shared Art file with ResEdit, you won't find any nice PICTs to admire or copy (for your own personal pleasure, of course, and not for sharing).
THE SOLUTION:
Make a copy of the "ResEdit Preferences" file in your System Folder (or the Preferences folder within it). Open the copy with ResEdit, then open the "After Dark Star Trek RMAPs" file with ResEdit. Double click the RMAP resource, copy the three items, then click on the "ResEdit Preferences Copy" file and paste. Save the "ResEdit Preferences Copy" file and quit ResEdit.
Go back to your System Folder, change the name of "ResEdit Preferences" to "Original ResEdit Preferences" (or anything else memorable), drag your now modified preferences file (making sure it is named "ResEdit Preferences") to the same place the original file was located.
Now when you open a copy of a Star Trek module or Shared Art file with ResEdit and open resources of the resource types: MiCT, PiCT, or SiCT, you can see the hidden art work.
If all goes well (and there's no reason why it shouldn't), you can trash the "Original ResEdit Preferences" file.
